These are long overdue, but boy, Animal Flag is one of the best bands from the Boston area. Seeing them take a crowd who was mainly there for the headliner, Thursday, by storm was such a pleasure. Keep tabs with them this year as they have a new album on the way, and I'm absolutely certain it will be one of my favorite releases of the year.
The Venetia Fair // Somerville, MA (2.21.16)
The Venetia Fair have been a staple in the Massachusetts local scene for quite some time now, but last Sunday, they decided to wrap it all up with one final Boston-area show at ONCE in Somerville. These crazy dudes and their on-stage antics will be missed.
The circus is over. Cheers, boys.
I The Mighty // Worcester, MA (11.7.15)
Earlier this month, the I The Mighty guys swung through on tour supporting Hands Like Houses, and being the fine gentlemen that they are, they had me out to shoot and drink beer.
A little backstory: I met the I The Mighty in early 2013 when they were out with Say Anything, Eisley, and one of my favorite bands, HRVRD. Ever since, I've taken every opportunity to see them when they come through the area. They always do well in Worcester, and this was no exception. The crowd seemed more than eager for them to start.
It's always a good time when the ITM boys come to town, and I'm more than grateful that they're so supportive of me. They just announced they'll be out on the road with Coheed & Cambria and glassJaw next year (starting in February in Boston). Make sure to catch them when they come to your city.
gates // Boston, MA (7.16.15)
7.16.15 @ Brighton Music Hall (Allston, MA)
gates is one of my favorite new bands. I thought I'd start off my first blog post on my new site by getting any and all bias out of the way right off the top. Simply put, Bloom & Breathe is a post-rock masterpiece. That being said, the New Jersey boys are always quick to hook it up and provide some great hospitality whenever they're in town while providing one of the best live experiences around. Definitely check this band out, catch a show, buy their records, and buy Dan a beer (he'll appreciate it).
Here's some of the photos I took of them from the show. Enjoy.
